No more children in food commercials in Romania

15 February 2017

Romania’s audiovisual watchdog CNA has decided that children between 3 and 15 years old can no longer appear in food commercials on local TV stations.

The decision will come into force in six months, reports local Paginademedia.ro.

Only local broadcasters, such as PRO TV, Antena 1, Kanal D, are obliged to respect this legal provision, which doesn’t apply to international TV stations.

The new regulation is part of a wider array of changes to the audiovisual regulatory code. The amendments also tighten the rules for the right of reply during TV talk shows, and for protecting minors from acts of violence presented in TV shows or movies.
