More than 300 artists from 43 countries to perform at Romania’s EUROPAfest in May

The 2016 edition of EUROPAfest will bring more than 300 artists from 43 countries to Romania this May, as well as special guests from the US, Australia, Venezuela, Hong Kong and Japan.

The festival will take place between May 12 and May 21 in Bucharest and Sibiu, and will gather four music genres – jazz, blues, pop and classical under the motto It’s all about live quality music!.

It includes the Bucharest International Jazz Competition and the Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti, as well as gala events, symphonic music concerts, jam sessions and various master classes.

In Bucharest, the event will be organized in several locations such as Odeon Theater, Cervantes Institute, the Italian Institute, Arcub Gabroveni, and Athenee Palace Hilton. EUROPAfest’s program includes concerts, competitions, recitals, jam sessions, and workshops.

The event will start on May 12 with a double opening gala concert in Bucharest and Sibiu, and will end on May 21 with a Gala Concert. Dan Papirany Band, comprising artists from Australia, New Zeeland and Norway, and the US and UK based Far from Carolina, will perform at the Bucharest opening gala, while EUROPAfest winner Ekaterina Valiulina will open the event in Sibiu.

EUROPAfest is the first local event that has received the Patronage of the Royal House of Romania. Last year, the event’s value was reconfirmed by the European Commission and the European Parliament, which grant it the EFFE, Europe’s Finest Festivals title.
