Supermarket chain Mega Image, operated by Dutch-Belgian Ahold Delhaize, will open its first store in Cluj-Napoca this Saturday (on April 8).

The supermarket will be located in a central location, within the Platinia shopping center located on Calea Manastur. It will cover about 900 sqm and represents the main anchor of the Platinia shopping center.

By the end of this year, the retailer will open other stores in Cluj-Napoca, said Vassilis Stavrou, Mega Image general manager. The company has focused on Bucharest so far, with some stores opened in other cities in the south of the country.

Mega Image currently has 534 supermarkets and proximity stores in Bucharest, Constanta, Brasov, Ploiesti, Targoviste and several other smaller cities. The company had sales of over EUR 800 million and over 8,000 employees in 2015. The data for 2016 is not yet available.
