Local supermarket chain Mega Image, part of Dutch group Ahold-Delhaize, has started the recruitment process for the employees who will work in its stores in the Cluj county.

The company will inaugurate the first Mega Image stores in Cluj this spring, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

The new units will be located in Cluj-Napoca, Campia Turzii, Dej, Huedin, and Turda. Mega Image has focused so far on the south of the country. It has opened supermarkets only in Bucharest and within an area of maximum 250 km around the capital.

Opening units in Cluj represents the retailer’s expansion to a different region of Romania. Cluj-Napoca is one of the most developed cities in Romania, based on the investments made there, as well as the average salaries, and thus the purchasing power.

Mega Image will not take over any existing network in Cluj, but will start its own units from scratch.

The retailer has reached a network of almost 500 stores under the Mega Image and Shop&Go brands. It had a turnover of over EUR 800 million and a net profit of EUR 23 million in 2015.
