Mega Image, close to reaching 500 stores in Romania
Local supermarket network Mega Image, part of the Dutch-Belgian Ahold Delhaize group, opened five new stores in Bucharest, on Friday, reaching a network of 498 stores in the country.
The company is the largest retailer in Bucharest.
It was founded in 1995, and has stores in Bucharest, Constanta, Ploiesti, Brasov, Targoviste, and other cities in the country, under the Mega Image (222), Shop & Go (274), and Gusturi Romanesti (2) brands.
Last year the retailer recorded a growth rate of 27%, reaching EUR 801 million in sales. It almost doubled its net profit to EUR 23 million.
In August, Dutch retailer Ahold and Belgian Delhaize announced the completion of their merger, which resulted in the fourth largest retail group in Europe.
