A man has threatened to jump off the 16th floor of the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Bucharest on Friday, June 17. However, the Police negotiators convinced him to give up his plan after a few hours, reports local Mediafax.

Several people called the 112 emergency number on Friday morning, to announce the incident. The Police arrived soon at the scene, together with a team of negotiators and a medical team.

The Bucharest Inspectorate for Emergency Situations sent two ladders and an air cushion to the scene, but they were not able to set up the air cushion in the area because the space was too small, the local media reported.

According to local Agerpres, the man is about 30-years-old and claimed financial problems.

This is not the first incident at the Intercontinental Hotel, which is one of Bucharest's landmark buildings. In late-November last year, a 46-year old German citizen died after falling from the hotel’s 15th floor.
