Romanian singer holds charity concert in New York next week

Loredana, one of the most famous Romanian singers, will have a charity concert in New York, on May 13. She will help Curtea Veche Association’s project that aims to promote reading among children and combat illiteracy among students in Romanian villages.

The event is organized by Mara Society with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, and will take place at Webster Hall – the Marlin Room, starting 19:00.

Loredana’s playlist for this concert includes songs such as O fata singura in noapte, Trandafir de la Moldova, Marioara de la Gorj, Extravganza, Zig Zagga, reinterpretations from Maria Tanase’s musical repertoire and many other tracks in both Romanian and English.

All the funds raised from this event will go to Curtea Veche Association for the development of the Classics Retold national reading program which includes book donations and interactive reading clubs in disadvantaged areas, visits in schools, training with parents or teachers, and reading workshops in libraries.

Tickets cost USD 95 and USD 175 and can be purchased online here.

She is one of the juries from The Voice of Romania talent show and the founder of an alternative music school - Atelierul de voce și muzica that follows the development and encouragement of children’s talents by helping them to gain vocal abilities or skills of instrumental interpretation.
