Largest healthcare operator in Romania sees 15% increase in net profit

MedLife, the largest healthcare operator in Romania, recorded a net profit of almost EUR 1 million in the first three months of the year, up 15.5% over the same period last year.

The company’s turnover rose by 26% year-on-year to EUR 32.2 million between January and March.

MedLife saw significant increases on all business lines, but mainly in dentistry, clinics and laboratories. The turnover growth was also influenced by the acquisitions made last year. Operating revenues grew by almost 33% in the first quarter to almost EUR 34 million.

In December 2016, the company listed its shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. It raised some EUR 50.9 million from the sale of 8.84 million shares. The majority stake in MedLife is still owned by the Marcu family.

The healthcare operator recorded losses of EUR 364,000 last year, although its turnover increased by 29% to EUR 110.5 million. The company has a market value of EUR 148 million.
