Largest Burns Clinic in Romania will open in Timisoara after EUR 5.5 mln investment

28 October 2016

An Acute Burns Clinic will open in Timisoara, western Romania, next year. The hospital, which will cover 500 sqm, will actually be an extension of the existing Burns Clinic within the Timisoara County Hospital.

It will have five beds and dozens of specially trained employees, the investment amounting to about EUR 5.5 million, money that will come from the Ministry of Health and the County Council, reports local News.ro.

"We are working intensively on the largest Acute Burns Clinic in Romania," said Marius Craina, manager of the Timisoara County Hospital. He also said that he had made the necessary arrangements for the purchase of equipment, which could cost around EUR 3.7 million.

“In terms of equipment, last week I received from the Ministry of Health a first signal, meaning they received our address, they started analyzing it, and they will probably grant us the entire amount,” the hospital manager said.

The Acute Burns Clinic is to become functional in the summer of 2017.

Meanwhile in Bucharest, the special unit at the Floreasca Hospital for which the state has spent some EUR 755,000 can’t be used for treating burns, but is equipped for anti-aging treatments, according to health minister Vlad Voiculescu. The hyperbaric chamber was acquired to treat severe burns, but it was actually designed for anti-aging treatments or skin toning.
