Tobacco producer JTI appointed Charlie Cunningham-Reid as new GM for Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria. Cunningham-Reid replaces Neil Coupland, who will take over the helm of JTI in Poland. The new GM started his career 20 years ago, and has spent 11 of them in the tobacco industry.
Early in his career, he entered the music industry, with Virgin Retail Ltd. He joined JTI in 2001 and has held various positions at the Geneva headquarters, including the management of brands like Winston, Benson & Hedges, Silk Cut, Sobranie, Glamour and LD. He came to Romania in 2012 as vice – president, head of consumer and trade marketing, after running JTI Bulgaria.
JTI started doing business in Romania in 1993, as R.J. Reynolds, with an investment of EUR 100 million, and was one of the first international companies to set up in the country. JTI Romania, now with 1,000 employees, invested EUR 25 million last year in its production capacities, adding 125 new jobs.
