ING Bank has joined Raiffeisen Bank, UniCredit Țiriac Bank, BRD – Groupe Societe Generale and BCR in the Council of Banking Employers in Romania (CPBR), which was created at the end of April this year. The council is hoping to attract new members.

ING Bank’s CEO in Romania Michal Szczurek will also join the board of the council, made of fellow bankers Steven van Groningen (Raiffeisen Bank), Răsvan Radu (UniCredit Țiriac Bank), Philippe Lhotte (BRD – Groupe Societe Generale) and Tomas Spurny (Banca Comerciala Romana BCR).

“ING Bank’s initiative to join our employers’ organization stands as proof that the CPBR is perceived as being built upon a viable model at European level with the aim of boosting the credibility of the banking sector, as well as the economic development of Romania,” said Steven van Groningen, the President of the Board of Directors of the CPBR.

The council also appointed Bogdan Preda, a former Associated Press and Bloomberg correspondent for Romania, as executive director for public and corporate relations.
Bogdan Preda, a former news correspondent of the Associated Press (1990‐1997) and
Bloomberg News (1997‐2007), specializes in the strategic management of public and
business communication.

The Council of Banking Employers in Romania aims at contributing to increasing confidence in the Romanian banking system and to the economic development of Romania, both as part of the dialogue with the government and trade unions, as well as through raising banking standards as a basis of real consumer protection.
