More migrants try to enter Romania illegally from Serbia

The Romanian Border Police caught seven migrants while they were trying to enter Romania illegally, from Serbia. The incident took place on September 19, at around 00:10.

Five of them are Egyptian citizens, one is Algerian, and one is Pakistani, according to a statement from the Border Police. The immigrants, who are aged between 19 and 35, said that they left Serbia on foot, and wanted to go to a state in Western Europe.

The Romanian authorities opened an investigation for illegal border crossing.

Dozens of other migrants tried to enter Romania illegally in the last weeks, most of them coming from Serbia. For example, one week ago, the police caught a group of 30 people who were trying to cross the Serbian-Romanian border illegally.

Two migrants also drowned last week in the Danube, while they were trying to cross the river from Bulgaria to Romania by boat.
