Hello autumn! Temperatures drop in Romania, rain takes over the country

19 September 2016

After a hot first half of September, the autumn started to make an appearance in Romania on Sunday night as the temperatures dropped and the rain took over the whole country.

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued two bad weather alerts for Monday and Tuesday.

One of them is a yellow alert for rain and strong winds. The warning targets the entire country, except for Tulcea, Braila, Galati, Vaslui, Bacau, Vrancea, and Buzau counties, and the north parts of Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Valcea and Gorj counties, which are under an orange code of bad weather, which means that in these areas it's going to be even worse and the waterfall can reach 60-80 liters per sqm.

In the regions covered by the yellow alert, the quantities of water are expected to exceed 25 liters per sqm, and even 50 liters per sqm in some areas. Moreover, the wind could blow more strongly in these regions, especially in the south, southeast, and southwest.

The temperatures also dropped in Romania, and will continue the downtrend in the coming days. For example, after a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday, Bucharest is expected to see a maximum of 24 degrees on Monday, 17 degrees on Tuesday, and 18 degrees on Wednesday, forecasts show.
