The guaranteed minimum pension in Romania increases from RON 400 (EUR 88.5) to RON 520 (EUR 117) starting today.

Over one million people will benefit from this measure, according to the Labor and Social Justice Ministry. The guaranteed minimum pension was introduced through an emergency ordinance in 2009.

The Labor Ministry representatives said at the end of January that the ministry had completed 15 measures from the governing program. The minimum wage in the economy was raised from RON 1,250 to RON 1,450 starting February 1 this year.
