GSK Consumer Healthcare appoints new new general manager for Romania

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare appointed Sylwia Piankowska as general manager for Romania and the Balkan countries, replacing Helen Tomlinson, who took over the GSK Consumer Healthcare Iberia.

Piankowska will lead the operations of GSK Consumer Healthcare in eight countries and will coordinate a team of over 100 employees. She joined GSK in 2002, after having gained commercial experience in the FMCG sector.

“We want to further develop strong partnerships with our customers and healthcare professionals,” said Sylwia Piankowska.

GlaxoSmithKline was fined a record 3 billion yuan (USD 483 million) for corruption in China in 2014. The company also faced corruption allegations in Romania in 2015. Allegations said that GSK paid Romanian doctors hundreds, and in one cases thousands of euros between 2009 and 2012 for prescribing its medicines, according to a Reuters article.

GSK Romania had a turnover of EUR 112 million and a net profit of EUR 4 million, in 2015, according to data from the Finance Ministry.
