German group buys new dialysis clinic in Romania

Fresenius Nephrocare, the largest provider of dialysis services in Romania, owned by the German group Fresenius, has acquired the Ploiesti-based clinic Premium Medical Clinic this summer from local investor Virgiliu Grigorescu.

Fresenius Nephrocare thus reached a network of 35 dialysis centers in Romania.

The company inaugurated its first unit in 2005. It has bought several clinics such as Nefromed and Renamed along the years.

Last year, the company posted a turnover of EUR 56.8 million, up 19% over the previous year, and a net profit of EUR 3.75 million, up 72% compared to 2014.

The dialysis services are entirely covered by the state. Romania has 11,824 patients on dialysis, according to the National Health Insurance House (CNAS). The total budget allocated for dialysis services this year amounts to EUR 199 million.
