General manager of Romania's National Road Infrastructure Company dismissed

12 January 2017

The board of the National Company for Managing the Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) decided on Tuesday to dismiss the general director Catalin Homor under the pretext of "deficiencies" in the company's management, according to a press release published yesterday.

The dismissal takes place four days after Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu asked transport minister Razvan Cuc to dismiss Homor for having poorly coordinated the actions for removing snow on Romania’s national roads. Cuc demanded the Ministry’s control body to carry out controls at the CNAIR headquarters to check the equipment for removing snow and the contracts concluded with snow removal companies.

Catalin Homor was appointed head of CNAIR (back then called CNADNR) at the end of 2015, after he had previously been the general director of Bucharest metro operator Metrorex.
