Four Romanian universities included in global ranking

The U.S. News & World Report released on Tuesday, October 25, the 2017 Best Global Universities rankings, with four Romanian schools being included on the list.

The best-ranked Romanian school is the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. With a global score of 48 points, out of 100, the Romanian institution is at number 569 on the list. The rankings feature a total of 1,000 universities.

The University of Bucharest comes second among Romanian schools, ranking 733rd (42.9 points), followed by the Polytechnic University of Bucharest – 750th (42.4 points), and the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi – 996th (33.5 points).

With a perfect score of 100, Harvard University tops the global ranking made by U.S. News & World Report. Moreover, the next four places are also occupied by American universities, namely the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), the Stanford University, the University of California-Berkeley, and the California Institute of Technology.

At European level, the top three is made of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the Imperial College London, all of them from UK.

Most of the ranked universities are from the U.S. (210), followed by China (87), UK (68), Germany (55), and France (49).

The 2017 Best Global Universities rankings evaluate 1,000 universities across 65 countries. The schools were ranked based on 12 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations.

The Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, and the University of Bucharest were also included in the 2016/17 QS World University Ranking, which featured just over 900 of the top universities in the world.
