Romanian singers Ilinca and Alex Florea won the national selection final and will represent Romania at the 2017 Eurovision music competition in Kiev. Their song is called Yodel It as Ilinca is a talented yodler.

Ilinca competed in the 2014 edition of the Voice of Romania. Alex Florea was a contestant in X-Factor Romania in 2014 and one year later also participated in the Voice of Romania. Neither of them won the talent shows.

Mihai Traistariu, who represented Romania at the Eurovision in 2006, ranked second in the national final this year. The band Instinct, made of two former X-Factor finalists, came third.

The winner of the national Eurovision selection was selected by public voting out of ten finalists, who had been selected by a jury.

The 62nd edition of the Eurovision song contest takes place in Kiev this year. Romania’s representatives will compete in the second semifinal, on May 11, for a place in the May 13 final.

Romania first participated in the competition in 1994. Since then, Romanian artists have managed to get two third places, in 2005 (Luminita Anghel & Sistem) and 2010 (Paula Seling & OVI).
