Former IT director within Romania's Justice Ministry charged with bribery

Ion Krech, former IT director within the Justice Ministry, has been charged with bribery by the National Anticorruption Directorate – DNA Ploiesti. The prosecutors accused him of having received EUR 239,000 from a software company to help it win a public auction.

Between 2012 and 2013, Ion Krech demanded and received EUR 239,000 in three installments from the representatives of the software company. Krech was member of the tender committee.

A few months before the public tender was officially launched, Krech sent to the company’s representatives the tender specifications, according to prosecutors. Moreover, he drafted with the software company’s representatives the documents related to the tender, inserting in their contents requirements designed to favor the firm from which he had received the bribe. DNA hasn’t released the name of the firm.
