Finance Minister: Daimler may expand investments in Romania

German car producer Daimler is discussing with the Government about the possibility to expand its investments in Romania, said the Finance Minister Anca Dragu.

Daimler owns two factories in Romania. The producer has already made an investment in Romania that has benefitted from state aid from the Finance Ministry, and has created jobs, the minister added at local Europa FM.

Markus Schaefer, Mercedes-Benz executive responsible for production and suppliers, recently said that Romania proved a reliable partner.

“Things done so far here are an excellent recommendation for future projects here,” he added.

The German group has two companies in Romania, namely Star Transmission and Star Assembly. They produce car parts and assemble gearboxes.

Daimler has invested over EUR 300 million to expand its production unit in Sebes and start producing the 9G-Tronic gearboxes.
