Famous Romanian Madrigal Choir, part of UNESCO patrimony, to hold anniversary concert


The famous Romanian Madrigal Choir will celebrate 50 years of activity with an Easter concert in April at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. The Madrigal National Chamber Choir , which was created in 1963, will perform on April 21, under the baton of Voicu Popescu, its current leader.

The 38-member choir, which was included in the universal UNESCO patrimony in 1992 in Paris, has held over 4,100 concerts in the half century of activity. Its founder, the conductor Constantin Marin, died in 2011, after which Romania’s Culture Ministry announced plans to create a music foundation dedicated to Constantin Marin.

Tickets for the event on April 21, starting 20:00, are on sale for RON 150 , and can be bought online at www.bilet.ro. Listen to the Madrigal Choir in the video below.
