Bucharest and 26 counties from the central, Southern, and Eastern parts of Romania are under a warning for extreme cold, which is valid on Monday and Tuesday.

In this period, the daytime temperatures will remain negative, between -7 and -3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will go down to -20 degrees Celsius in some areas, according to meteorologists.

The counties covered by the warning are Suceava, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt, Bacau, Vaslui, Vrancea, Galati, Braila, Harghita, Covasna, Brasov, Buzau, Prahova, Ialomita, Calarasi, Ilfov, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Dambovita, Arges, Olt, Dolj, Valcea, Gorj, and Mehedinti.

In Bucharest, the nighttime temperature is expected to fall to -15 degrees Celsius tonight.
