EU money available to increase traffic safety in Romania

Romania’s EU Funds Ministry will grant financing for investments that aim to increase traffic safety, streamline traffic at border points, and reduce the impact on the environment.

The total budget amounts to EUR 106.5 million. The largest bulk of the amount is destined for improving traffic safety, namely EUR 85.2 million.

Romania is first in EU, together with Bulgaria, for the number of traffic fatalities. According to the European Commission, the death rate was 95 people per one million inhabitants in Romania. This is almost double compared to the EU average of 51.5 deaths per one million people.
