German Manfred Weber, who chairs the European People’s Party (EPP), will come to Romania next week to meet Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

Weber made the announcement at Strasbourg on Wednesday, while talking to the Romanian press, reports local News.ro.

While in Romania, he will also meet with representatives of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), and the Popular Movement Party (PMP). They will discuss about the recent events in Romania, including the protests organized in the country.

“It is a very strong signal that the civil society gave related to the fight against corruption, to the idea of a normal state, and the rule of law. That’s what I want to understand, and to listen to the civil society and our partner parties,” Manfred Weber said.

He also stated that he believes that President Iohannis has done a very good job in the last couple of weeks, “keeping the nation united.”
