Enescu Festival announces call for projects for Creative Bucharest 2017

22 March 2017

The George Enescu International Festival, one of the most popular cultural events in Romania, has launched on Wednesday a call for projects for this year’s edition of Creative Bucharest, a series of cultural events related to the festival. The theme of this year's edition of Creative Bucharest is “Light in the heart of Bucharest.”

The projects can be submitted between March 22 and June 15.

In addition to respecting the theme, the projects also have to meet certain conditions. For example, they must be inspired or have a connection with the musical theme of this year’s edition of Creative Bucharest - Sonata for Cello and Piano in F minor, Op.26 by George Enescu, or with the theme of 2017 Enescu Festival, an edition that aims to put in a new light the music and creation of Romanian composer George Enescu, as well as classical music in general.

“We are encouraging integrative approaches that highlight the power of creation, music or the Enescu experience, and complete it with the value of some undiscovered or rediscovered aspects of Bucharest as an urban space, while bringing a new light to the city and the community,” reads the statement from the organizers of Enescu Festival.

Public institutions, companies, and NGOs as well as individual artists can participate. Those who want to submit a project can do it by filling in the online form here.

The projects within Creative Bucharest will be split into three categories, namely the Festival’s Garden (includes the green spaces in front of the Romanian Athenaeum and the Great Hall of the Palace), the Festival’s City: locations from the public space (Romana Square, Sf. Anton Square, Coltea Square, Baneasa Shopping City, Sala Radio) and other possible spaces proposed by applicants and partners, and My Festival (companies/associations/organizations/suppliers of products and services can participate in Creative Bucharest by making products and special offers for the festival).

A list of projects selected for the previous edition of Creative Bucharest can be found here.

Creative Bucharest is part of the George Enescu International Festival, which will take place between September 2 and September 24. Find out more about the festival here.
