The final electricity consumption amounted to 9.3 TWh in Romania, in the first two months of the year, up by 5.8% over the same period of 2015.

The electricity consumption by companies increased by 7.6%, to 7.08 TWh, which reflects the higher economic activity. The household consumption only rose by 1.1%, to 2.15 TWh.

The electricity exports amounted to 1.5 TWh, down by 9.3% compared to January and February 2015. The electricity resources totaled 12.2 TWh, up by 2.4% compared to the first two months in 2015.

The production of heat energy exceeded 5.2 TWh, up by 7.4% year-on-year, while the hydropower production went down by over 15% to 2.6 TWh. The nuclear power production was stable at 2 TWh.

The wind power production totaled 1.4 TWh, showing an increase of 16.5% over the similar period of 2015 while the solar energy amounted to 168 GWh, up by 25%.

Romania also imported 709 GWh of electricity, 31% more than in the first two months of 2015.
