Electricity consumers in Romania connect to the grid in 182 days

08 April 2016

A new electricity consumer in Romania is connected to the grid in 182 days, compared to 20 days in western Europe, said the Energy Minister Victor Grigorescu.

“This is enormous,” he said, cited by local Agerpres.

A few years ago, consumers in Romania could connect to the grid in 180 days.

The information has been included in the World Bank’s Doing Business report on Romania. A person needs 60 days to get the permits, 10 days to send the documents and 40 days to conclude various contracts.

According to the Energy Ministry, the best performance in Romania for an industrial consumer is to get connected to the grid in 72-75 days. The norm is probably 100-110 days, the minister said. In certain areas of the country, the authorities issue the permits faster.
