EC retrospectively pays Romania EUR 29 mln for national road revamping

27 July 2016

The European Commission has approved the retrospective project to rehabilitate the Zalau-Rastoci road sector in the north-west of Romania, part of the DN 1H national road.

The project’s value totals EUR 51.6 million, to which the EC has a contribution of EUR 29.3 million via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Romania will thus recover more than half of the sum spent from the national budget for this project, which rehabilitated 54 kilometers of national road.

Romania was allocated EUR 20 billion via the Cohesion Fund for the 2007-2013 programming period and another EUR 23 billion for the 2014-2020 programming period.
