Depeche Mode return to Romania next year for concert in Cluj-Napoca

Legendary English band Depeche Mode will play in Romania next year, band members announced in a press conference on Tuesday.

The concert will take place in Cluj-Napoca on July 23, and will end the band’s European tour organized to promote their latest album Spirit. The new album was also announced at the press conference, and will be launched at the beginning of 2017. The tour will start on May 5 in Stockholm.

Tickets for the gig in Cluj-Napoca will be put up for sale on eventim.ro, starting October 21.

Depeche Mode previously performed in Romania in 2013. The concert took place at the National Arena in Bucharest and attracted 45,000 Depeche Mode fans.

The band was formed in 1980 by Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andrew Fletcher, and Vince Clarke. Clarke left after the band had made its first album, and was soon replaced by Alan Wilder, who played with the band between 1982 and 1995. The group has been performing as a trio since then.

The band has had 50 songs in the UK Singles Chart and 13 top ten albums in the UK chart. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Some of their most famous songs are Enjoy the Silence, Policy of Truth, and Personal Jesus.
