ContiTech, a supplier of plastic and rubber components for the auto industry, which is part of German Continental group, appointed Maik Niewoehner as director of ContiTech Romania starting February 1.

Niewoehner replaced Bernd Steinebronn, who has held this position for over 13 years.

Niewoehner has been working within Continental for over 18 years, where he has held various managerial positions in several ContiTech locations in Germany.

Before taking over the management of ContiTech Timisoara, Maik Niewoehner worked as financial director of the production unit in Oppenweiler, Germany. At the same time, he was responsible for the Finance & Controlling departments of the ContiTech locations globally.

At the moment, about 6% of the global demand and over 20% of the European demand for car air conditioning pipes are produced in the factory in Timisoara, said Maik Niewoehner. The factory in Timisoara, which began operations in 2002, is one of the seven Continental factories in Romania.

Between 1999 and 2015, Continental invested EUR 1.13 billion in its local operations. Continental owns seven production plants and four research and development centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov and Iasi, which hire over 17,000 employees.
