Continental becomes largest employer in Romania's car sector

The Continental group had 18,200 employees in Romania last year, thus becoming the largest employer in the local car sector, reports local Ziarul Financar.

It managed to surpass the Renault group, which had a total of 18,000 employees. Over 13,800 of these worked with car producer Automobile Dacia.

Some 1,700 people joined the Continental team last year, said Anica Stoica, HR director for Continental Romania. The group plans to hire 1,500 more people this year, she added. The company is looking both for experienced engineers, and for young graduates of vocational schools.

The group invested about EUR 170 million in its local operations in 2016. It owns seven production units and four research and development centres in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei, Nadab, Brasov and Iasi.
