Six in ten local companies have a department for strategic communication whereas only four in ten companies have a dedicated department for public and government affairs.

These are the results of a EY study which analyzes how companies in Romania communicate.

In Romania, the positions for strategic communication and public affairs are relatively new, said Elena Badea, who co-authored the study. The foreign companies were the ones that promoted these positions in their local subsidiaries.

The general managers and the communication specialists have different opinions on the involvement of communication specialists in planning the business strategy. Some 85% of the general managers consider that the employees responsible of communication and public affairs are involved in planning the company’s strategy. However, only 38% of the specialists believe that they are really involved in the strategy.
