“Collateral victims” of the metro line to Otopeni

27 September 2016

State-owned exhibition center Romexpo, car dealer Hyundai Auto Romania, and supermarket chain Mega Image will be among those affected by the expropriations carried out to make way for the metro line to Otopeni, reports local Economica.net.

The Government Decision on this metro line was published yesterday on the Transport Ministry’s website.

The total surface affected by the expropriations amounts to almost 226,000 sqm (22.6 hectares). Of the total, almost 198,000 sqm represent public property whereas the rest is private property. The total value of compensation for private properties reaches over EUR 26 million.

The state would expropriate 14,000 sqm of land belonging to Romexpo, Comnord, and Divadaria, for the total amount of over EUR 9.4 million. About EUR 2.7 million will be paid for a plot owned by Auto Rom, Hyundai Auto Romania, and BRD Groupe Societe Generale. A surface of 3,000 sqm will be expropriated in this case. However, 2,100 sqm represents a construction.

The state will also appropriate two plots belonging to Mega Image. It will pay over EUR 1.9 million for the largest of them.

A 5,500 sqm plot owned by an individual called Mariana Chirita will also be expropriated.
