Cluj-Napoca borrows EUR 20 mln from EBRD for public transport

The public transport company in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, plans to borrow EUR 20 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The company will use the money to buy 50 busses and 7 new trams, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

The Cluj-Napoca City Hall has approved the loan, which is part of its strategy to improve public transport in the city and encourage more people to use it, according to mayor Emil Boc.

The municipality still needs to negotiate the loan’s terms with the EBRD.
