China has recently become the world’s biggest personal computer market, surpassing US for the first time, according to IDC. PC shipments to China reached 18.5 million units in the second quarter of this year, exceeding the 17.7 million shipped in the US, according to IDC. The situation is however not likely to last until the end of 2011, when the US is expected to keep its supremacy on the worldwide PC market.
IDC expected US PC shipments of 73.4 million this year, while China is likely to have shipments of 72.4 million units.
