Canada will decide on removing visas for Romania by this fall

Canada is expected to announce this fall the results of its assessment on removing the travel visas for Romania and Bulgaria, reports Novinite.com.

Dimitris Avramopoulos, EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, hosted a meeting between representatives of Romania, Bulgaria, and Canada in Brussels yesterday. During the reunion, John McCallum, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, said that the results would be announced this fall.

Romania and Bulgaria must meet a number of technical criteria before they can obtain visa-free travel to Canada. A Canadian expert committee visited Romania in June, whereas the assessment of Bulgaria will be in late July.

Dimitris Avramopoulos said that EU wants to see all the visa removed for EU citizens travelling to Canada.
