30 March 2017

Bulgarian authorities expect an increase of 10-11% in the number of Romanian tourists this year. Romania has become the main source of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria, said yesterday the Bulgarian tourism minister Stela Baltova, local Agerpres reports.

In the last ten years, Romania has surpassed Germany for the number of tourists visiting Bulgaria, the Bulgarian official added. Romanians come to Bulgaria not only for seaside holidays, Baltova said.

“They come with the intention to travel and visit Bulgaria and, given this, we’ll organize a forum in Bucharest on 30 April where we expect over 100 representatives from the tourism sector of the two countries,” the Bulgarian minister said.

According to her, creating tourism projects between the Balkan countries would be beneficial not only for Bulgaria and Romania, but also for the neighboring Greece, Macedonia, and Serbia.
