Athens, Rome, Bucharest, and Paris residents were the least satisfied EU citizens with life in their cities last year, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

The level of satisfaction with life in a capital was below 90% in ten EU member states in 2015. In the rest of the 18 member EU countries, at least nine in ten inhabitants were satisfied with their life in the capital.

The lowest satisfaction level was recorded in Athens (71%), Rome (80%), Bucharest and Paris (83% each). The highest level of satisfaction was seen in Vilnius (98%), Stockholm and Copenhagen (97% each), and Vienna and Luxembourg (96%).

Compared to 2012, the satisfaction level with life in the capital increased in most EU capitals. The most significant advance was recorded among the inhabitants of Athens, namely from 56% in 2012 to 71% in 2015.
