Bucharest’s newest mall opens outdoor ice skating rink

08 November 2016

Veranda Mall, the newest shopping center in Bucharest, has joined the list of malls that offer visitors the option to enjoy their free time by having some fun on the ice skating rink.

The new rink, which is the only outdoor ice skating rink in Bucharest’s Obor area, covers 650 sqm, and is open daily between 10:00 and 22:00.

“We wanted from the beginning to offer Obor residents more than a mall, as the area is particularly known for its shopping history, and less known for entertainment options. Therefore, we chose to have a generous outdoor area dedicated to leisure, of 15,000 sqm, where we will have green spaces and we’ll organize a series of activities for our neighbors. In addition to the playground, which is already very popular among visitors, we have now opened the first and only outdoor skating rink in this neighborhood,” said Romanian entrepreneur Andrei Pogonaru, the mall’s developer.

A one-day ticket costs RON 15 (EUR 3.3) from Monday to Thursday, and RON 20 (EUR 4.5) during weekends. However, the visitors can also choose to buy subscriptions for one month or for the whole season.

Those who don’t have their own ice skates can rent them from the rink for some EUR 3.3.

AFI Palace Cotroceni also has an indoor ice skating rink, which is opened throughout the year, no matter the season. The rink covers 800 sqm. Moreover, Promenada Mall will most likely open a rink on its roof terrace, as it did in previous years.

Veranda Mall opened at the end of October after a total investment of some EUR 60 million.
