Bucharest City Hall wants to prepare something specials for this year’s winter holidays, so that the tourists and Bucharesters "will feel like in Vienna" in the Romanian capital.

Thus, four areas will be arranged for the winter holidays, and a big New Year’s Eve show will be organized in downtown Bucharest, Gabriela Firea announced at local TV station Digi24.

In Universitatii Square, people will have the chance to admire and take photos with the Christmas tree to be installed there, and buy gifts for their loved ones.

Meanwhile, this year’s Christmas Market will take place in Constitutiei Square, starting December 1. Besides traditional food, handmade objects, Christmas decorations, and clothing items, the visitors will also find Santa Claus’ house at the fair, and an ice skating rink.

Moreover, following talks with those running businesses in the Old Town, this area will also be decorated for Christmas. In addition, traditional products will also be sold in front of the cafes and restaurants located in Bucharest’s Old Town.

A pink Christmas tree will be installed in front of the Romanian Athenaeum, “as a symbol of women in Romania, a small gesture of appreciation for them, and as a way of telling them to take care of their health,” Gabriela Firea said. Moreover, those going through that area will have the chance to listen to some ambient music, try traditional products, and watch the shows.

As for the New Year’s Eve, the City Hall is preparing a big show. There will be two events, one in Enescu Square and the other one in Revolutiei Square, which will be merged into a common space that could host around 50,000 people. Fireworks will light up the sky at 24:00.
