Bucharest subway employees will get 9.5% wage increase

The salaries of the people working for Bucharest’s subway operator Metrorex will go up by 9.5% in November this year, although Metrorex is one of the state companies paying the highest wages.

The company’s budget from last year showed that the average monthly earnings per employee exceeded RON 5,000 (EUR 1,100), for a number of 4,560 employees, reports local Profit.ro. The budget was built on a RON 0 profit, with equal revenues and expenses amounting to RON 775.6 million (EUR 172.6 million).

In 2015, the company’s income reached RON 537.8 million (EUR 120 million), down from EUR 127 million in 2014. Metrorex posted zero profit, similar to 2014.

The subway operator, which has been working at full capacity in recent months, transports between 600,000 and 700,000 passengers daily.
