Bucharest might have a new burn hospital

12 August 2016

Romania’s Health Ministry and Bucharest District 1 City Hall are planning a new burn hospital in Bucharest. The plan was announced on Friday, August 12, one month after the authorities decided to shut down the Intensive Care Unit (ATI) of the Burn Hospital in Bucharest.

“District 1, in fact the entire Bucharest, needs a new hospital equipped according to European standards, with experienced doctors. I’m glad that I found a partner in minister Voiculescu, and that, together, we can achieve this much-needed project for the city,” said District 1 mayor Dan Tudorache after a meeting with health minister Vlad Voiculescu, reports local Digi24.

However, the minister said that the work at the new hospital wouldn’t start by November when his mandate will end, but he hoped that a project would be drawn up by then.

The Ministry of Health’s Sanitary Inspection decided to shut down the Intensive Care Unit (ATI) of the Burn Hospital in Bucharest after two people died at the hospital in suspicious conditions.
