Romania’s most popular cop launches his children’s book at Bookfest

Romania's most popular policeman Marian Godina will launch his new children's book at Bookfest, one of the biggest local book fairs, which started on June 1.

Bookfest takes place at Romexpo in Bucharest between June 1 and June 5. Besides representatives of the Guest of Honor country – Israel, the event also brings together more than 200 publishers. The five-day program includes over 300 events, from book launches to debates, film screenings, and interactive events.

Marian Godina, who became the most famous cop in Romania and a best-selling author with his first book Oncoming Flashes (Flash-uri din sens opus), will launch his book on Saturday, June 4, at the Curtea Veche Publihing stand. His second book - In a mission with Marian (In misiune cu Marian) - consists of a series of educational stories for children, illustrated with suggestive and attractive images.

Romanian gymnastics world champion Maria Olaru will also launch her autobiography at Bookfest on June 4. The book is called The Price of Gold. Uncomfortable Sincerity (Pretul Aurului. Sinceritate Incomoda) and reveals the hard price she had to pay as a young aspiring gymnast aiming to reach international glory.

Famous Romania writers such as Gabriel Liiceanu, Andrei Oisteanu, Vladimir Tismăneanu, Andrei Plesu, Adrian Cioroianu, Lucian Boia, and Mircea Cartarescu will also launch their newest books at Bookfest.

Some of the publishers to be present at the event are Humanitas, Polirom, Corint, ALL, Rao, and Trei.

Bookfest 2016 is organized under the High Patronage of Romania's President. The entry is be free.
