Blue Air flights register long delays due to problems at Bucharest airport new terminal

24 August 2016

The flights of Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air registered total delays of 800 minutes (over 13 hours) on Wednesday morning, due to technical problems at the new terminal of Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport (Otopeni Airport).

According to company representatives, the late departure of the first flights of the day would seriously affect the rest of the operation on Wednesday. Thus, more than 6,100 passengers are to be affected throughout the day, by delays of more than 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Bucharest Airports National Company, which manages the Otopeni airport, said that the problems were resolved, and the air traffic returned to normal.

Blue Air carried 1.42 million passengers in the first half of 2016, 82% more than in the same period last year. The growth was mainly supported by the launch of 25 new routes this year, and the fleet expansion.
