Bill: Firms hiring mothers could get tax exemptions in Romania

11 April 2016

Private companies that hire at least three women with children under seven on part-time jobs will benefit from exemptions from the tax on profit of up to EUR 30,000, according to a draft bill.

The bill is currently discussed in the Parliament and needs to be approved both by the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, reports local Profit.ro. This would allow mothers to take care of their children and also work.

According to the European Commission, the gap between the employment rate among women and men has widened in the last years. The employment rate for women aged 20-64 reaches 56.2% whereas the employment rate for men of the same ages amounts to 71.6%.

It’s important that Romania has a positive demographic growth, but also it’s important to have a high employment rate, reads the bill.
