Bill: City halls in Romania to co-finance historical building revamping

26 April 2016

The municipalities in Romania will be able to co-finance by up to 50% the rehabilitation of historical buildings.

They will recover the money by setting up a special tax for the owners of these buildings within ten years, according to a draft project approved by the Parliament’s Committee for Public Administration, reports local Profit.ro.

The senators rejected the same bill last fall. However, the Committee for Public Administration has now sent the draft project to the Chamber of Deputies, which has the final say on this.

The bill’s authors based their project on the current law that allows municipalities to fund the thermal rehabilitation of buildings and later recover their money through taxes for thermal rehabilitation.
