The biggest ski jump in Romania was recently opened in Rasnov, after investments of EUR 15 million. It is located in a complex on Valea Carbunari, one of the sports bases where the European Youth Winter Olympic Festival will take place next year. Romania then expects over 100,000 foreign tourists for this festival, as well as over 1,500 participants from all over Europe.
The same sports center already has several ski jumps which were used for the summer jumping event this year. The most recent addition is a K90 jump – 70 meters.
The European Youth Winter Olympic Festival will take place in several locations in Romania next year, including the Olympic Ice Skating rink in Brasov – not yet finalized, the ski slopes in Predeal, Busteni, Azuga and Sinaia, and the ski jumps in Rasnov. The festival will take place between February 17 and 22 in 2013. Participants will compete in eight winter sports disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon, Ice Hockey, Figure Skating, Short Track, Ski Jumping and Snowboarding. The previous winter edition of this event was held in the Czech Republic.
