Belgian food and chocolate, business talks at Pullman Bucharest this week

The Pullman World Trade Center in Bucharest hosts the fourth edition of the Belgian Week, an event dedicated to Belgian food and gastronomy.

The event, which started on April 11, will enjoy the presence of top chef Alex Verhoeven, who owns the prestigious restaurant Fleur de Sel in Kasterlee, Belgium, and famous Belgian chocolatier Laurent Gerbaud.

Alex Verhoeven will design and oversee the preparation of the Belgian menus served in the Pullman Bucharest restaurants during the Belgian Week, as well as at the Gala Dinner, which will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at the New York Ballroom. The event’s program also includes a private chocolate workshop held by Laurent Gerbaud.

There will also be business seminars and conferences, as well as informal network sessions. On Wednesday, members of the Belgium Meat Office will have meetings with their respective Romanian partners while on Thursday, a full-day seminar will be held, on the theme “Food – a Long Supply Chain”.

Moreover, Open Business Days will be organized on Wednesday and Thursday at World Trade Center, providing exhibition space and new business opportunities to Belgian companies present on the local market.

Last year, Romania's imports from Belgium totaled EUR 1.48 billion, up by 18.4% compared to 2014. Romania’s exports to Belgium also went up by 10.8%, to EUR 921.9 million. Machinery & equipment, transport, chemicals and textiles are the major trade sectors between the two countries, according to a report by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency.
