American actor Channing Tatum to produce “the greatest '80s Romanian cop show ever”

24 June 2016

American actor and dancer Channing Tatum is teaming up with motion picture company A24 to produce a fictional Romanian cop show from the 1980s, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The action-comedy series, called Iron Fisting, will be inspired from Miami Vice and is jokingly billed as "the greatest '80s Romanian cop show ever."

The series will follow the story of two buddy cops who seek to defend communism and their compatriots from the evils of capitalism. The show will be dubbed in English, just as a real Romanian series would be.

The production is set to start in September in Eastern Europe. The producers haven’t announced the actors who will play in the series or the network who will broadcast it.

Iron Fisting was created by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka, who will also executive produce along with director Rhys Thomas.

Channing Tatum was born in 1980 and made his film debut in the 2005 drama film Coach Carter. He is known for playing Duke in the 2009 action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and its 2013 sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He also played in Magic Mike, The Vow, The Hateful Eight, and Hail, Caesar!
